I recently caught up with Brooke Kanter a local mom & chair of K.A.M.P. to ask about this fabulous event they are launching at the Hammer on May 16th, Kids Art Museum Project :
Gurumommy: What is K.A.M.P.?
Brooke: K.A.M.P. stands for Kids Art Museum Project. I have always been passionate about art and wanted to find a way to share that love with my children. Since they were babies my daughters have always happily spent hours on art projects; gluing, pasting, drawing and cutting. But as soon as I suggest we go to a museum or gallery I am greeted with cries of “No! We don’t want to go to a museum!” K.A.M.P. is an opportunity to share art and artists with the next generation. It’s a chance for children to have first hand interaction with incredible artists and to begin to understand who and what is behind those mysterious paintings they see hanging on the museum walls.
